The Horse, The Rider, and the Saddle Fitter- the Performance Trio

original-passionDeborah Witty, the owner and president of Trilogy Dressage Saddles and Performance Saddlery, has spent years helping top riders such as George Williams, Guenter Seidel, Courtney King-Dye, Shannon Peters and Debbie McDonald with their saddle needs. After recognizing a need in the market place for a saddle line that addressees more of the horse and riders needs, Witty developed her line of Trilogy Saddles. “It is extremely rewarding to have the opportunity to build and provide horses and their riders with a saddle that generates more comfort, makes the rider more effective and enhances the team’s performance,” Witty said.

Trilogy Dressage Saddles are built in England by some of the most experienced craftsmen in the world. They feature a British tree made of laminated Beechwood, and a specially tanned hide from England that offers the rider an elastic broken-in feel. “Our designs are effective for both horse and rider. The leather is grippy and already broken in for the closest contact,” Witty said.

Three’s a Charm

Trilogy offers three dressage saddles: The Debbie McDonald, the Amadeo and the Verago.

The Debbie McDonald Dressage Saddle series gives riders two choices: The Debbie McDonald features a flatter, more open seat, narrower seat and straighter leg. The Debbie Special is designed specifically for the petite rider. “The Debbie Special was developed so that the saddle would accommodate a rider that is physically unable to establish their position in a regular size saddle because there is just too much leather and saddle surrounding them. Instead everything is tailored to suit the smaller in stature rider so that they can effectively put their leg on the horse, shift their seat bones and communicate clearly to the horse without the bulk of the saddle getting in the way,” Witty said.

Trilogy also offers The Amadeo Dressage Saddle, the choice of riders who favor a more moderate depth of seat and twist with a generous seat bone position. The Verago Dressage Saddle is for the rider who prefers a deep seat with a narrow twist and a well-supported seat bone area.
