VECHTA, Germany, Oct. 3–Don Primeur, the 2009 Oldenburg state champion of Rastede, was sold at the Oldenburg auction Saturday for €505,000 (US$736,000).

The 2006 gelding by Don Primero out of a Castro mare was sold to Denmark at the auction in which 45 horses were sold to buyers from a dozen nations, including nine to the United States and Canada and one to Japan. The auction brought in a total of €1,963,500 (US$2,861,210).

Starlight, the 2000 Sandro Hit stallion owned by Rick Silvia of Wellington, Florida and was a champion at Dressage at Devon, Pennsylvania in 2008, brought the second highest price of €170,000 (US$248,000). The stallion went to a German buyer.
